Construction related work and any related enabling works on the road or on the roadway can, in the absence of adequate planning, organisation and implementation, lead to unsafe conditions for workers and all road users, including pedestrians and cyclists. Therefore, a Traffic Management Plan is required to ensure systems are put in place to complete work safely.

This will involve

1. Site Visit
2. Traffic Management Plan will include:
   • what traffic control devices to use
   • where to put the traffic control devices
   • how to set up traffic control devices
3. Implementing Traffic Management Plan
4. Audit & Review of Traffic Management

These Traffic Management Plans are required under Chapter 8 of the Traffic Signs Manual and the Safety, Health & Welfare at Work (Construction) Regs.

Workplace (Internal) Traffic Management Plans

Every year, workplace transport accidents result in death and injury to people and damage to property, equipment and vehicles. Anyone who comes in contact with workplace transport can be injured, for example pedestrians, visitors to the workplace, contractors, visiting drivers, employers, employees and members of the public. The employer is required to develop an effective Workplace Traffic Safety Management Plan.
