HSS Confined Space Training Programs

Option 1. FAS & FETAC Confined Space Training Programmes: (C1, C2, C3)
FAS/ FETAC training programs have been developed for Confined Spaces entry. The courses are held at FAS/FETAC approved centres & delivered by FAS/FETAC approved instructors. Certification is administered through FAS/FETAC.

HSS can provide these FETAC Confined Spaces Training courses for Clients wishing for this certification. Training includes a number of simulated situations including:

including deep manholes
shallow manholes
sewer runs
vertical tanks
ceiling voids
vessels with agitators
under-ground sumps.

All necessary equipment is provided during the training.

All instructors delivering FAS/ FETAC certified programs are qualified and experienced and are certified FAS instructors.

C1 means: Confined Space- Management of Risk
C2 means: Confined Space- Supervision of Risk
C3 means: Confined Space- Escape & working Breathing Apparatus.

Option 2. Confined Spaces Entry Training

Duration 1 Day. This is suitable for those whose work involves entry into or working in confined spaces and related work areas. Participants will be taught to

Describe the responsibility of the confined space entrant, observer and supervisor.
Describe the confined space rescue procedure.
State the purpose of a confined space entry permit and list the steps for obtaining one.
Demonstrate the operation of a gas detector.
Setting the scene – case histories.
Confined Spaces – identifying hazards.
Safe Work Practices:

Entry permits.
Safe procedures.
Emergency plans.

Atmosphere Testing:

Unsafe atmospheres ? definitions.
Gas detection equipment.
Rescue Procedures.

Additionally, the training will include a Practical Session, where actual confined spaces entry is practised, with full PPE being worn.

Option 3. According to your needs , additional durations may be required. Essentially, this HSS training can build into a 3 day program, which includes

Day 2: BA: Full training on the use & maintenance of Breathing Apparatus (BA) equipment
Day 3: Specific Rescue techiques, which demonstrate to those designated with responsibility to evacuate a ‘man down’ from a confined space. This is a practically based day of training.

This training is certified by HSS, delivered by registered Instructors and meets all the National Training requirements.”

In very specific instances the FAS/FETAC course is required, but the HSS training will satisfy 95% of regulatory/insurance requirement and is substantially cheaper than the FAS course.
